The lion, The Bear and The Fox
A lion and a bear seized a lamb at the same moment, and fought fiercely over it. When they had cut and hurt each other and were tired from the long fight, they laid down, exhausted with fatigue. A fox, who had seen them at a distance, saw them both stretched on the ground with the lamb lying untouched in the middle. He ran in between them, took the lamb and ran off as fast as he could. The lion and the bear saw him but could not get up. The lion said, “we fought and belabored ourselves only to serve the a fox.”
